ORH 2017 - Kyle Cholo's Procedure
The young boy whom we visited in his home, was operated on today by Dr. Tristan De Chalain. In a procedure lasting 60 minutes his cleft lip was closed.
As Kyle Cholo is only 14 months old the chances of the lip healing well, and his being able to return to a normal development, are very high.
Dr. Tristan De Chalain is seen carrying young Kyle Cholo to the recovery room where Anna Borbado (Australia) and Sue Slater (Australia) wait for him. Kyle's mother is also waiting for him and will be there when he awakes.
The two nurses provide her with useful tips for the coming days, the medications Kyle will need for the next week, and an emergency telephone number to call if help becomes necessary. A small toy is also given to the mother to take home for Kyle.
The next morning at the ward round Dr Tristan ensures that all is well before Kyle's discharge. All is well just as the case in all other surgeries performed by other members of the team. Discharge is planned for late afternoon when the family will return home. They will then be alone.
For a few more weeks the ASK Foundation and the doctors and nurses of Hospital Paranaque ngĀ will be available to treat any complications or deal with problems that might arise. Only then will the Operation Restore Hope mission for 2017 reach it's final conclusion.
